Congratulations to all the children in 2nd class who made their First Confession on Tuesday evening. A lot of preparation went into the cermony and it all went great on the night. Thank-you to Ms P O’Riordan and the 6th class girls who played music as we got our confession, thank-you to Fr. Casey who was very patient with us and thank-you to Mrs Doyle who was usher on the night. We are now all on best behaviour and we are looking forward to our First Holy Communion.
St Patrick’s Day Parade
On Sunday, many pupils from our school marched in the parade. They represented the GAA, Soccer, The Scouts, Girl Guides and many other clubs. Scoil Aodán Naofa also marched. Our theme was World Book Day! Some of the girls from 2nd class represented the school. Their costumes were really good. The parade was very successful. We got a little bit wet, but the snacks and goodies which were waiting for us in Colaiste Bhride made up for it !! A great time was had by all and a huge thanks to all who marched with our school – Mams and Dads included !
World Book Day
Last week our whole school celebrated World Book Day. It was really great!Everybody dressed up as their favourite character and some people brought in their favourite books too. Many classes made cool book marks. We held an assembly and each class paraded around so that we could all see the excellent costumes! The teachers also dressed up and Mr. O’Donnell asked everybody to guess who they were. We managed to guess them all – Ms. Whelan was from Little House on the Prairie, Miss Doran was Ganster Granny, Miss M O’Riordan was Minnie Mouse, Miss Noctor was Pinocchio, Mrs O Hara was Mrs Doubtfire, Miss Dunne was also Minnie Mouse, Miss O’Sullivan was Denis the Menace, Miss P O’Riordan was Banana in Pyjamas, Mrs Doyle was Wheres Wally, Ms. Byrne was Nanny Mc Phee, Mrs Young was Stephaine and Mrs Holmes was Daphne from Scooby Doo. Mr O donnell came as James Bond. As a reward for dressing up, every pupil in the school got a suprise of a free book at the end of the day!! We all love reading in Scoil Aodán Naofa.
Orienteering in the Snow

On Monday, Miss Noctor, Miss Dunne and Ms. Byrne brought 2nd and 4th class orienteering in Forest Park after their swimming lesson. Two parents Lorna and Margaret came along too. We were split into teams and each team was given a map. We had to find missing numbers on the poles which were hidden around the park.Just before we set off, it began to snow. However we managed to keep warm running about. We got lost many times. The teachers blamed the children and the children blamed the teachers!! When we finally reached the end, we felt very successful. Since then, 2nd class have completed some ‘recount writing’ about the experience. Here are some of the recounts……………
Letters to Famous People
Last month, Miss Noctor told everybody in 2nd class that they would be writing a letter to a famous person. We were all really excited! Some pupils wrote to famous sports stars, others wrote to presenters on tv. Clodagh was the first pupil to get a reply. When she opened her envelope we couldn’t believe that the President of Ireland – Michael D Higgins had responded to her letter. He told her that it was a lovely letter and that she was to say hello to all the pupils in Scoil Aodán Naofa for him!!
Later in the week, an envelope was delivered to our class for Daniel. Daniel had written to the rugby player Sean O Brien. Sean told Daniel that his letter had made him feel very special and he asked Daniel to tell his friends to wear protective gear when playing rugby as he himself didn’t and has ended up with cauliflower ears!!!
We are still waiting on more letters.Fingers crossed we get some !
